How To Use

Using a Car Bubble correctly is essential for keeping your vehicle protected from dust, moisture, and accidental damage. In this guide, we’ll show you how to use Car Bubble effectively, step by step. Whether you’re storing a classic car or preserving your daily driver, these instructions will ensure optimal protection and long-lasting performance.

The Original Indoor and Heavy Duty Outdoor Car Bubble

To use your Car Bubble effectively, start by placing it on a flat, clean surface. Proper inflation is key to ensuring Car Bubble provides maximum protection and maintains its structure.

1. Unpack

Remove the Car Bubble from the storage bag. We recommend allowing it to reach room temperature before unfolding it. This makes it more flexible and easier to manoeuvre.

2. Unroll

Sweep area clean. If close to a wall, it is recommended to leave at least 30cm between the edge of base mat and wall.

3. Remove Fans & Move Top Cover Aside

Fold top cover into a square in the centre of the base mat and place to one side.

4. Park Car On Base Mat

Minimise steering while on the mat, this can cause wear to the base mat.

5. Fit Top Cover & Refit Fans

Ensure car is clean, you may also lay a protective cover/sheet/towel on top to further protect. Unwrap the top layer, avoid dragging.

6. Power Up

Use 12v for faster inflation, 8v is usually a good level to settle with but this can vary. Enjoy knowing your car is protected. Creases will disappear.

Recommendations for Optimal Use:

The following recommendations will help you maintain the quality and effectiveness of your Car Bubble, while minimising potential issues during operation. We have over 18 years of experience in the use of vehicle air chambers, with use in leaky flood prone barns to air-conditioned garages. Follow our recommendations to get the most from your Car Bubble!

Before Use

Unwrapping / Storage:

Keep the Car Bubble as close to room temperature as possible before unwrapping / during storage. This ensures the PVC remains flexible and easier to handle.

  • Preparation:
Ensure the car is as dry as possible before storage. While the Car Bubble can act as a drying aid for a recently washed vehicle, it’s best practice to minimise excess water to reduce the risk of prolonged condensation.Allow a hot car (engine, exhaust, etc.) to cool down before storage to minimise potential temperature imbalances inside the bubble.Anti bacterial cleaners to touch points within the car reduce likelihood of mould formation. Bacteria will be present, left untouched, it can develop through the lack of use if moisture is trapped.

During Use

  • Fan Speed:
Once the bubble is inflated, the fan should be left running continuously. Start on a moderate to high setting to allow the air inside the bubble to stabilise, then adjust to a steady moderate speed for day-to-day use. In most conditions, continuous moderate airflow provides the best balance between maintaining inflation and controlling moisture. Very high fan speeds are only needed if the vehicle was placed inside damp or warm, or if condensation is visible. As a general guide, around 8-8.5v often works well, although this may vary depending on the season, location, and bubble size. The key is to slow the temperature change inside, not match the outside with fans on high speed.
  • Condensation Monitoring:
When first using the bubble, it is normal to see some temporary condensation, particularly if the car was recently driven or not completely dry. This should clear naturally as airflow equalises. If condensation is present, increase the fan speed for several hours to help remove excess moisture, then return to a moderate continuous setting. Opening the vent during this period can help speed up the drying process.
  • Airflow:
Slightly open the vehicle’s windows to promote airflow through the interior and prevent moisture traps / build-up.
  • Anchor Points:
Use of the upper hooks can assist the fans and prevent the bubble from collapsing during power cuts. Distribute the weight evenly across all anchor points to avoid undue pressure on any single point.

Maintenance

  • Zippers:Do not force the zipper if it becomes stiff. Lubricate with candle wax or a bar of soap applied to a closed track. If the zipper puller becomes misaligned, gently adjust it using a flathead screwdriver.Keep the zipper and PVC away from heat sources like exhaust pipes to avoid damage.
  • Cleaning:Clean the PVC and nylon material using warm soapy water. Avoid harsh chemicals.Fan filters can be cleaned by washing, shaking, or air blasting.
  • Dehumidifiers / Heaters:Whilst these are not required in most cases, some users have opted to use these for extra peace of mind. These are used at your own risk. We do not recommend the use of a heater kept within the Car Bubble.

Additional Tips for Optimal Use:

  • Mats or Tyre Cushions Under the Tyres:
Use mats or tyre cushions (like TyreDox) to prevent tyre impressions on the base mat and reduce sticking.

  • Minimise Turning the Steering Wheel on the PVC Base Mat:
Turning the wheels on the mat can cause premature wear and damage.

  • Mat Under Car Bubble:
Placing a mat under the Car Bubble can help protect the base from rough surfaces.

  • Gentle Handling of PVC:
Unwrap the PVC gently at room temperature to reduce risk of damage.

  • Battery Maintenance:
Use a NOCO battery conditioner if not disconnecting the battery. Wires for trickle chargers can be passed between the zip start/end or fan panel openings.

  • Timer Plugs for Power Efficiency:
Timer plugs can be used to reduce power usage. Ensure the fans are operational during cold and wet periods (e.g., 6pm-8am).

  • Efficient Fan Use:
Disconnect one fan to save energy, but make sure the bubble stays inflated and moisture-free.

  • Anchor and Hanging Points:
Use anchor points to maintain shape, stability, and reduce stress on the fans, especially when power is not available. Avoid applying constant tension to the anchor points.

  • Space for Fans:
Ensure the fans are not blocked, give them at least 5 cm of space in front to allow sufficient airflow to be drawn in.
